As a big supporter of the Holiday and Food (HAF) scheme, I'm always interested to see how organisations can use the system and the support of The Hubb Foundation, who administer it on behalf of Stoke-on-Trent City Council, to better support our children and young people. The Spark Group's aim is to support skills for young people, particularly around construction and green industry skills, and their premises in Stoke-on-Trent provide a great opportunity to combine both learning and hands on experiences, as I saw for myself on a recent visit, organised by The Hubb Foundation.
The opportunity for young people to have a go at plumbing and installing electrical installations is important for them to see for themselves what the future could hold in terms of careers, and I was pleased to hear about partnerships with the YMCA and also care leavers. It's good to see the HAF scheme continuing to deliver for children and young people across Stoke-on-Trent, and working with local businesses to improve skills.
