The British Ceramics Biennial is currently underway on the Spode site in Stoke - the entrance is via the gate off Church Street, with a number of large pink/blue signs directing you to the various spaces. There’s quite a lot to see, all free and with room guides in all the spaces, which span the Spode site. This includes some areas that haven't previously been open to the public, so not only is it a great opportunity to see the very best of contemporary ceramics, but also this intriguing 'sleeping giant' regeneration site in the centre of our city.
If you’re intrigued about ceramics, curious about what’s happening on the Spode site, or just after something to do for a few hours, then it’s definitely worth a look. Held every two years, after my first real exposure in 2015, I am always struck by the scale and depth of what's on show, but also the increasing numbers in attendance. It was good to see the site buzzing with people when I dropped in at the weekend.
The BCB is underway until Sunday 19th October, and I would encourage everyone to visit and support our great local heritage.
