Delighted to announce on Monday that Stoke-on-Trent City Council will be working with well-known social developer, Capital and Centric, to transform the Swift House site into an exciting new multi purpose development called the Goods Yard. Retaining the locally listed bond warehouse lower tiers, but redeveloping the remaining space, the site will bring forward a new hotel, business space, residential and also leisure opportunities alongside the canal. It will also include a new civic space, maximising the great location, right by Stoke station.
Capital & Centric are best known for their work in Manchester, however also have other projects in the North West, around Stockport and Rochdale. The Goods Yard is their first project outside the North West, and sends a strong message about the growing confidence, ambition and reputation of Stoke-on-Trent to land this partnership.
The development will bring forward around 180 new homes, a 150 bed hotel, 25,000 sq ft of workspaces and 10,000 sq ft of retail and leisure space on the site, making the most of the canal side location to incorporate a potential water taxi to the Bet365 stadium, as well as being a highly visible landmark development for those travelling through the city by train.
