Procurement in Stoke-on-Trent : The Careful Balance Between People and Pounds

Perhaps not the most exciting of subjects to write about, but a good opportunity to share how we’ve been addressing procurement at Stoke-on-Trent City Council in recent years, through a combination of getting local businesses more engaged, and also creating exciting opportunities to bring in new businesses with a willingness to base themselves here.

With an ambitious £750m capital programme, there’s no shortage of great things happening in Stoke-on-Trent, and we’ve used that to our advantage with the Professional Services Framework launched in 2019 - and then built that experience in other frameworks. We’ve also better aligned our corporate priorities with procurement, making social value less of a ‘what would you like to do’, and more of something that means our priorities, in this case improving outcomes for children and young people.
