If you’ve driven up Bucknall New Road recently, you’ll have seen the work underway to demolish the low rise blocks of flats here. Having visited a number of times over recent years, I know residents have done their best to create homes here, however the fabric and design of the buildings are increasingly causing issues that are both uneconomical to repair but also not appropriate for modern homes.

I feel passionately that we can provide better homes for people here in Stoke-on-Trent, and the demolition of properties such as these - which should really have happened years ago - is the start of making that happen.

Local news have covered the demolition of the flats including here on BBC News.
