Continuing to Monitor A50 Issues

A50 roundabout at Catchems Corner

As residents may know, the A50 is the responsibility of National Highways, a national agency. Whilst they do respond to issues I raise, it often takes up to 10 working days and I have no way of speeding this up, so do ask residents to bear with me!

Recent issues raised that I am awaiting a response on include;

  • streetlights around the A50/Catchems Corner roundabout - I have reported that a number of lights are out on the roundabout and also at the top of the Catchems Corner slip road.
  • litter on the sliproads and carriageway itself. This is collected by the city council, but to protect the workforce, it is done in conjunction with A50 lane closures. I've asked that the slip road by Tesco/B&Q is considered for the next session, as well as raising the state of the main carriageway. Sadly, this is an ongoing issue with people throwing rubbish from their vehicles.
  • overhanging hedges and vegetation - I have succeeded in getting the hedge on the up ramp cut back by the Weathervane and asked for consideration of the hedges by Tesco/B&Q.
